It’s often said that you judge a person
by the company they
keep. It did not take Gil Genn (D) and Don Murphy (R) long to find exactly with
whom they’d like to partner to create a firm with proven credentials.
Genn, who served 12 years in the Legislature,
chose not to seek reelection in 1998 and began
his lobbying career shortly thereafter. Murphy
chose not to seek a third term in 2002, and turned
to his former colleague on the House Judiciary
Committee and asked Genn to lobby for the passage
of legislation that Murphy had championed during
his last term in office.
Their political diversity and skills transformed
a major controversial issue into a winning political
solution on both sides of the political spectrum.
The bill’s passage which The Daily Record called a “longer than long shot,” received
national attention, becoming the first such bill
to be signed into law by any Republican Governor.
As former elected officials from opposite ends
of the political spectrum, their relationship
is unique. The Baltimore Sun noted that while
it is fairly commonplace in Washington, such
firms are unheard of in Annapolis.
As former legislators with extensive private
sector experience, they are sensitive to the
media-intense scrutiny of their clients and champion
a strict code of ethics. They would never jeopardize
their reputation, or yours.
Their professional philosophy of “hard
work & real results” can be found in
their Mission Statement, along with why Genn
and Murphy are your best advocates. |
